Scandal surrounding Hromadske TV gathers momentum

The scandal surrounding “Hromadske” TV has not subsided for several days. Colleagues accused Roman Skrypin of stealing funds that were transferred by people from around the world to support the project. According to the channel's journalists, Skrypin transferred to his foreign accounts and appropriated approximately 150,000 euros from PayPal and another 36,000 dollars in revenue from YouTube.

Вони ж так страждають за Україну, що не гріх хапнути грошенят з бюджету, як компесанцію своїх зусиль.
Як ми все це допустили? Ні, ми зовсім не спостерігали тупо за тим, що відбувається. Романа з самого початку просили передати домен в користування організації, передати гроші в загальне користування. 
У відповідь - образи, звинувачення в недовірі, погрози рознести все на друзки. Ми просто не виносили це назовні. 
За час його управління проектом інтриги та сварки стали буденністю. Аж поки більшості не урвався терпець і не було обрано нову голову - Наталю Гуменюк. Свою поразку на виборах, саме поразку на виборах, а не відсторонення, Роман вже пережити не зміг. І зібравши кошти, подався геть” (It is obvious that Roman does not consider his actions theft. No, we did not just stupidly observe what was happening. From the very beginning, Roman was asked to transfer the domain to the organization's use, to transfer the money to common use. In response - insults, accusations of distrust, threats to tear everything to pieces. We simply did not take this outside. During his management of the project, intrigues and quarrels became routine. Until most people lost their patience and a new head was elected - Natalya Humenyuk. Roman could not survive his defeat in the elections, precisely a defeat in the elections, not a dismissal. And having collected the funds, he left), - said Dmytro Hnapp.

In response to this, Skrypin asked the channel for an account number to which he could transfer the funds.

“1. ОСНОВНЕ. Краще Громадське помре через відкритість своїх дій, аніж перестане бути Громадським за принципами і цінностями. Закритися в собі і домовитися значно простіше, але чим ми тоді відрізняємось?

2. Важливо, що у цій ситуації виписки з рахунків значно важливіші за самі гроші. Роман має повернути гроші і показати виписки з рахунків, які використовував для збору допомоги Громадському. Сподіваюсь, він це робить. Але спочатку – ‪#‎чекипокажи.

3. Щодо заяви Наглядової. Наглядова Рада не має узгоджувати своїх кроків з Громадським. Ми самі (усі разом) обирали цих людей. Всі учасники конфлікту визнавали якість власного вибору. Ми створили умови, за яких кожен наш прорахунок і неправильний крок у сфері цінностей, стратегії, принципів та фінансвової прозорості обернеться проти нас. І правильно зробили. Не проконтролювали рахунок, системи доступів і виконання домовленостей – зараз вигребемо за це. Я дякую людям, які взяли на себе відповідальність контролювати нас та вказувати нам на наші помилки.

4. Щодо балансу. Громадське на сайті і в соціальних мережах не публікуватиме власної позиції – я можу писати про це на власних сторінках, але не можу використовувати для цього платфоми Громадського, бо є учасником конфлікту. На сайті прилюднено лише позицію Наглядової як незалежного контрольного органу на вимогу самої Нагляової (так само, як і буде оприлюднено аудит організації, який проведемо якнайшвидше). Усі позиції сторін (в тому числі тієї, яка перевела на приватний рахунок кошти з YouTube) оприлюднили/оприлюднять інші ЗМІ.

5. Мені тут докидають про те, хто вмре – хто не вмре. Я думав, чи встоїмо ми. Сьогодні не маю сумнівів – рухаємося далі. Я отримав десятки повідомлень зі словами підтримки (я таке майже ніколи не отримую, непублічна я людина, лайки ловити не вмію). Маю сказати, що дякую вам.

6. Я не популярный ведучий, блогер чи медіаменеджер. Але я маю, що робити, люблю свою роботу і бачу її результат. Як тільки у нас з’явилась нагода піднімати якість контенту, оптимізувати проект – довелось кинути все, закривати дірки і захищати ресурси Громадського. Це дико демотивує і вибиває з колії. Не очікував такого, але треба це витримати.

Зберу всю інформацію і віддам вам так, щоб нічого не пропустити. Це емоційний пост, знаю. Зараз це зайве, але мусив написати. Далі намагатимусь бути стриманішим.

All participants in the conflict acknowledged the quality of their own choice. We created conditions under which every miscalculation and wrong step of ours in the sphere of values, strategy, principles and financial transparency will turn against us. And we did right. We did not control the account, access systems and the fulfillment of agreements – now we will pay for it. I thank the people who took on the responsibility to control us and point out our mistakes to us. 4. Regarding the balance. Hromadske will not publish its own position on the website and in social networks – I can write about this on my own pages, but I cannot use Hromadske's platforms for this, as I am a participant in the conflict. Only the position of the Supervisory Board as an independent control body was published on the website at the request of the Supervisory Board itself (just as the audit of the organization, which we will conduct as soon as possible, will be published). All positions of the parties (including that of the one who transferred funds from YouTube to a private account) were/will be published by other media. 5. People are throwing at me here who will die – who will not die. I wondered if we would stand. Today I have no doubts – we are moving forward. I received dozens of messages with words of support (I almost never receive such things, I am a private person, I do not know how to catch likes). I must say that I thank you. 6. I am not a popular host, blogger or media manager. But I have something to do, I love my job and see its result. As soon as we had the opportunity to raise the quality of content, optimize the project – I had to throw everything away, plug the holes and protect the resources of Hromadske. This is wildly demotivating and knocks you off track. I did not expect this, but I have to endure it. I will gather all the information and give it to you so that nothing is missed.
