Scandal involving the Ministry of Energy

A new scandal is unfolding around the Ministry of Energy, headed by Arsen Hlushchenko. It is linked to the minister's attempt to seize the Belotserkovteplomseti property complex, which was purchased in 2023. 

The asset ended up in private ownership under strange circumstances, having been acquired on mortgage terms through a bank that had been pledged to the National Bank of Ukraine since 2015.

Following the buyout and the attraction of foreign investment aimed at restoring the equipment, the activities of Hlushchenko and his entourage intensified, drawing public attention. It has emerged that the minister plans, with the help of the Ministry of Defence, to take over the complex, ignoring the interests of the local community, and to impose his own rules at the facility.

This development is causing concern, particularly against the backdrop of current political and economic realities. It appears that Hlushchenko is attempting to concentrate assets ahead of a possible departure from office.

The position of international partners, such as USAID, which is investing significant funds in the restoration of this asset, is also raising doubts. In the event of abrupt action by the ministry, American sponsors may be forced to intervene to avoid a diplomatic scandal.
