We were breaking out of Debaltseve today

We were breaking out of Debaltseve today...

10 long ... very long hours ... images before my eyes, as if this was not happening to me ... as if watching a 5D movie ... lost all equipment and property on the way ... all we had left was what we were wearing ... plus small arms and some ammunition ... our own "zero" was used for suppressive fire during the combat breakthrough across the fields ...

 

We ran into enemy ambushes several times ... by some miracle, we survived ... two guys from my unit were taken prisoner ... everyone else is okay ... howitzer and tank shells exploded nearby, mines, RPG grenades, AGS and VOGs fell around us, bullets from various small arms kept whizzing past ... I have never seen anything like this even in movies ...

 

I watched vehicles explode and men fall right before my eyes ... screams of profanity and chaos ... flashes and smoke on the horizon ... bitter cold and the roar of armoured vehicle engines ... the eyes of the lads and their mutual support ...

 

The joy of seeing the first post with the Ukrainian flag ... indescribable feelings when I saw the part of our group that had fallen behind, walking through the fields under fire ... the face and moistened eyes of our company commander, who arrived to evacuate us ... arriving at our base in the safe zone ...

That is all for now ... going to sleep ... practically two days without sleep ...
