Sati Kazanova defends yoga in Russia

Famous singer Sati Kazanova faced harsh criticism from fans today. Moreover, some of them unfollowed the artist on the social network Instagram. The reason was the singer's post in support of yoga, which has been effectively banned in Russia.

"Йога стала важной и уже неотъемлемой частью жизни современного западного человека. Странно и глупо отрицать всю ее пользу для физического и психического здоровья. Не так давно в России вышел новый закон (Яровой),запрещающий нелегальную религиозно-миссионерскую деятельность в общественных местах(!) Сегодня, как я знаю, в Санкт-Петербурге судят человека за лекцию по йоге, которую тот провёл в октябре прошлого года на одном фестивале.
Я в крайнем возмущении и расстройстве! Получается, всех нас, кто занимается йогой, преподаёт йогу (с прошлого года я стала преподавателем Атма Крия Йоги) - нас могут запросто прийти и взять под арест??? Мы ведь прошли эпоху сталинизма, живём в стране, предоставляющей своим гражданам свободу мысли, слова, а главное - верования!! Но парадокс в том, что йога и Веды - не являются религией, но философией и знаниями жизни, - важнейшими и древнейшими знаниями жизни!
У человека нельзя отбирать право и свободу на обретение знаний, на постижение себя и жизни! Знаете, сейчас, находясь в Индии, я вижу, с какой любовью и почтением они относятся к Русской культуре! Здесь, на одном пятачке земли, дружелюбно сосуществуют храмы всех конфессий - индуистский храм, католический храм, мусульманская мечеть, православный храм, буддистский храм. И, как сказал вчера один парень местный, очень просто и мудро: "мы здесь больше не воюем из за религии. Это глупо. Ведь нам нечего делить, Бог - Един!" А между тем, в Индии есть православные храмы. В России же, индуизм так и не признан. Но самое печальное: начались гонения на йогу (!!!)
Политика и религия - страшные и непонятные для меня области. Никогда не думала и не хотела лезть туда. Но посягательства на йогу не допущу.
Йога - моя жизнь! Разве можно легализовать законопроект, запрещающий человеку дышать, мыслить, жить??? P.S. Слово "йога" переводится как "объединение", "единение". И тут имеется в виду единение всего - неба и земли, человеческого и Божественного, мужского и женского... Йога - это единство с Самим Богом. И идущий Путём этого Единения и называется Йогом" (Yoga has become an important and already integral part of the life of the modern Western person. It is strange and stupid to deny all its benefits for physical and mental health. Not long ago, a new law (Yarovaya Law) was passed in Russia, prohibiting illegal religious missionary activity in public places (!) Today, as far as I know, a person is being tried in St. Petersburg for a yoga lecture that he gave last October at one festival.
I am extremely outraged and upset! Does it mean that all of us who practice yoga, teach yoga (since last year I have become a teacher of Atma Kriya Yoga) - can they just come and arrest us??? We have gone through the era of Stalinism, we live in a country that provides its citizens with freedom of thought, speech, and above all - belief!! But the paradox is that yoga and the Vedas are not a religion, but a philosophy and knowledge of life - the most important and ancient knowledge of life!
One cannot deprive a person of the right and freedom to acquire knowledge, to understand oneself and life! You know, right now, being in India, I see with what love and respect they treat Russian culture! Here, on one small patch of land, temples of all confessions coexist amicably - a Hindu temple, a Catholic church, a Muslim mosque, an Orthodox church, a Buddhist temple. And, as a local guy said yesterday, very simply and wisely: "we no longer fight here because of religion. It is stupid. After all, we have nothing to divide, God is One!" Meanwhile, there are Orthodox churches in India. In Russia, however, Hinduism has not been recognised. But the saddest thing is: persecutions against yoga have begun (!!!)
Politics and religion are scary and incomprehensible areas for me. I never thought about it and did not want to get involved there. But I will not tolerate encroachments on yoga.
Yoga is my life! How can one legalise a bill that forbids a person to breathe, think, live??? P.S. The word "yoga" translates as "union", "unity". And here it means the unity of everything - heaven and earth, the human and the Divine, the masculine and the feminine... Yoga is unity with God Himself. And the one who walks the Path of this Unity is called a Yogi", Sati wrote.

Some politicians immediately used her post for their own purposes.
