US halts aid to Ukraine, including military support

According to sources, the suspension of aid affects most programmes related to military and defence support, including assistance to Ukraine, Taiwan and Jordan. 

The bulk of this aid is provided through the US State Department. However, military support for Israel and Egypt is not subject to these restrictions, although the article does not specify the details of this issue. It is worth noting that Ukrainian officials previously denied reports of a suspension of military aid from the US.

It is also reported that as a result of the 90-day freeze, certain aid programmes for foreign countries and organisations will be permanently closed. These include projects aimed at maintaining diversity, protecting women’s reproductive rights and combating climate change. These changes were confirmed by sources close to officials.

In addition, as the publication notes, the cessation of funding affected not only Ukrainian programmes but also projects aimed at monitoring forced labour in China, which were also terminated by a decision of the Trump administration.
