US fails to disburse billions of dollars to Ukraine in time

By the time Donald Trump takes office as US president, the Joe Biden administration will not have fully spent the funds allocated by Congress in spring 2024 for aid to Ukraine.

 Several billion dollars will remain in the accounts, passing into the hands of the new administration.

Deputy US Department of Defence Press Secretary Sabrina Singh provided this information during a briefing in Washington.

While speaking with journalists, Singh answered a question about potential concerns within the Biden administration regarding unspent funds allocated under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) — the primary instrument through which the US supplies weapons to Ukraine.

"Останется несколько миллиардов долларов, которые новая администрация сможет распределить по своему усмотрению," ("Several billion dollars will remain, which the new administration will be able to allocate at its discretion,") she noted, commenting on the current situation.

In response to a question about the risks of freezing aid to Ukraine following the change of power in the US, Singh emphasised that Kyiv still enjoys bipartisan support in Congress.
