US may annex Canada

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed concern over the real threat of his country's annexation by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by CNN.

Trudeau's statement was made during the Canada-US economic summit in Toronto, when, in his view, media representatives had already left the hall. However, journalists managed to obtain an audio recording in which the Prime Minister openly voiced his anxiety.

"Mr. Trump thinks the easiest way to deal with this is to swallow our country, and honestly, that is quite possible," Trudeau said, commenting on the situation.

The statement was made shortly after the end of his opening speech. In an interview with CNN before Trump's inauguration, Trudeau had already mentioned that Trump's threats to turn Canada into the 51st US state were viewed by him more as an attempt to distract attention from the introduction of tariffs.

Last week, the US President carried out his threats by introducing new tariffs on Canadian goods. However, after Trudeau promised to strengthen security on the Canadian border, Trump unexpectedly suspended the introduction of tariffs, delaying their entry into force for at least a month.
