Russia attacks Chernobyl sarcophagus

The facility suffered significant damage following a Russian drone strike on the shelter covering the destroyed fourth unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.

According to him, the attack was carried out using a drone equipped with a high-explosive warhead. The fire that broke out after the strike was quickly extinguished, and radiation levels remain within normal limits, with indicators under constant monitoring.

The head of state reminded that the protective structure covering the destroyed reactor was built through the joint efforts of Ukraine, European countries, the US and other states seeking global security. Zelensky emphasised that Russia is the only country in the world attacking such facilities, occupying nuclear power plants and conducting military operations without regard for potential consequences.
