Protests against Robert Fico spread to over 50 cities

Mass protests against the government of Robert Fico have continued in recent days in Slovakia and abroad. More than 50 cities have become venues for actions in which participants express concern over the possible exit of the country from the European Union and NATO. The central slogan of the protests is: “Slovakia is Europe”.

Organisers of the rallies claim that the actions of the current government could lead the country to an authoritarian regime, while growing support for Russia poses a serious threat to the future of Slovakia. 

News reports also mention solidarity actions being held in other countries, where people are calling for the defence of democratic values and norms.
