Saakashvili aide implicated in embezzlement and child's death

Controversy continues over the new aide to Odesa Governor Mikhail Saakashvili, Maria Gaidar. People are discussing both the refusal of the granddaughter of the well-known Russian politician Yegor Gaidar to state aloud who Ukraine is at war with, and her dark past.

It has emerged that Maria was implicated in a financial fraud. In 2009, the young woman, holding the rank of Vice-Governor of Kirov Oblast, oversaw social projects. She helped prepare documents and participated in the purchase of a tomograph for one of the region's clinics. The price of the equipment was three times higher than the market rate; instead of 32 million, the tomograph was purchased for 92 million rubles at her instigation.

In 2011, Maria Gaidar fatally hit a 13-year-old girl, after which she urgently left to study in America, which helped her avoid deserved punishment. The case was hushed up, and witnesses began to contradict their testimony.
