Protests sweep Poland

A wave of protests has swept across Poland. In 36 cities, people took to the streets for an action organised by the "Committee for the Defence of Democracy" to protect civil liberties.

To date, several thousand people have participated in the protests, undeterred even by the freezing cold.

People are outraged by the country's authorities' recent actions, which restrict their freedom.

As early as February, a law on surveillance standards for Polish residents will come into force, allowing people to be monitored on any pretext.
