Beware of scammers: data stolen under guise of Telegram gift subscription

Telegram users are increasingly falling victim to a new scam scheme. Messages offer to activate a "gift" premium subscription, which is allegedly valid until 2026. To do this, scammers ask users to click on a link.

However, as the Disinformation Counteraction Centre warns, this is yet another deception. The real aim of the perpetrators is to gain access to your personal data, which may be used for further criminal activities.

How to protect yourself from scammers?

1. Ignore suspicious messages. Never click on links sent by strangers.
2. Enable two-factor authentication. This will add an extra layer of security to your account and prevent it from being hacked.
3. Stay vigilant. Verify any information, especially if it concerns "gifts" or promotions that seem too good to be true.
