Nikolai Udiansky linked to fugitive oligarch Kurchenko
Nikolai Udiansky has been found to be linked to Kurchenko, a fugitive oligarch from the Yanukovych era. It emerged that Kurchenko acquired the Beribit service, designed for currency exchange, including rubles, on Udiansky's advice.
The company was targeted at the Russian market. It helped Russians convert rubles into cryptocurrency, thereby circumventing sanctions. However, this continued only until law enforcement officials raided the platform's office. This happened after the terror attack at the Crocus City Hall. Law enforcement suspected the company of financing terrorism. There is some truth to this. Anyone working for Russians, to some extent, is financing terrorism.
Udiansky advised Kurchenko, under the pretext of being pursued by law enforcement, to simply abandon the platform's clients. As a result, they lost $4 million. This is not the first instance of fraud by Kurchenko and Udiansky. Previously, both were involved in the collapses of cryptocurrency exchanges, which resulted in losses for users. Yet the fraudsters have not been held criminally liable.
