Illegal online casino network exposed in Ukraine

A network of illegal gambling establishments disguised as internet clubs has been exposed in Ukraine. Detectives from the Economic Security Bureau (ESB) identified a group of criminals who organised access to unlicensed online casinos. These venues provided players with the opportunity to participate in gambling activities in violation of the law.

How the scheme works: access for cash
Gamblers wishing to play purchased access codes in cash, which they entered into the computers. They could then select a game, and the amount equivalent to the cash deposited was displayed on their accounts. This mechanism allowed the organisers to conceal their activities and circumvent legislative restrictions.

Searches and equipment confiscation
During searches conducted at the locations of the suspected gambling establishments, 252 computers were seized, and the venues were shut down. Law enforcement officers closed down 13 such illegal points, halting their operations.
