Investigation launched into Alexander Rodin of 1xBet

An investigation has been launched into Alexander Rodin, former director of "Your Betting Company" (1xBet). He is suspected of money laundering through the Ukrainian bank Megabank and the Royal Pay payment system.

Boris Baum's role
Boris Baum, former head of the advisory council of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), is implicated in the scandal. He is currently in Latvia. Baum played a key role in issuing a licence to "Your Betting Company" to conduct gambling business in Ukraine, despite the conditions of martial law. This sparked public outrage, as the company has links to Russian owners.

Links to Karina Syrotkina
Baum also has close ties to Karina Syrotkina, the mother of his child and owner of the company "NIKS", which organises gambling. Karina is the daughter of businessman Nikolai Syrotkin, owner of the La Rocca and Studio 69 casinos and nightclubs, as well as the "NIKS-BRIH" hockey team. Her name has repeatedly surfaced in scandals related to the gambling industry. Following media reports, her Instagram account was closed to the general public.

Scandal context
This case raises serious questions about the transparency of gambling regulators in Ukraine. Despite martial law, a company with a dubious reputation obtained a licence, undermining trust in the regulatory system and the fight against financial crime.
