PR on a saint or – was there a multi-million dollar donation from Krot

For the umpteenth time, information has surfaced in the press about an IT specialist who donated approximately 60 million dollars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, no one previously knew who Oleg Krot was. Moreover, he remains a dark horse today, someone who is being deliberately promoted in the media.

As it turned out, the rumours about the multi-million dollar donation are greatly exaggerated. The philanthropist himself simply does not have such money. Nor does his foundation.

However, let us return to the mysterious Krot. As it turned out, he has a direct connection to another scandalously known Russian company, 1xBet, which recently lost the ability to operate in Ukraine as its licence was revoked. The firm is now attempting to restore its licence through the courts. Simultaneously, it is using other methods to return to the market. And Oleg Krot is no exception. He recently flew to Cyprus, where he met with representatives of 1xBet. Forbes proved the direct link between them.

One would like to believe that the SBU will pay attention to the activities of 1xBet and Oleg Krot himself, and explain in vivid terms to the would-be volunteer that speculating on such matters is unsightly and futile. Although – no, there is a prospect after all – landing in prison for about 10 years.

1xBet itself has no chance whatsoever of hiding its Russian roots and owners. Despite the regular removal of information on the Internet, it is not possible to clean everything up. Moreover, at this point, there are numerous platforms from which removing information is quite difficult. For example, Telegram channels, whose owners are mostly anonymous and cannot be intimidated.

As for Dasha Astafyeva, who recommended that everyone who meets Krot on the street should hug him and thank him, she has completely wiped out all her few merits with just this dirty PR.
