US Air Force F-35 crashes in Alaska

A US Air Force F-35 fighter jet crashed during exercises at Eielson Air Base in the US state of Alaska. The pilot managed to eject and, according to the latest information, is in stable condition.

This was reported by the Associated Press agency.

Colonel Paul Townsend, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing, stated that the incident was caused by a technical malfunction during a training flight. The pilot promptly declared an emergency.

The aircraft crashed while attempting to land at Eielson Air Base, which is located approximately 40 kilometres from the city of Fairbanks.

Following the incident, the pilot was evacuated and is currently undergoing a medical examination.

According to Townsend, the US Air Force will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to minimise the risk of similar occurrences in the future.
