Moseychuk claims he confessed under torture

Today, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine showed video at a press conference in which Radical Party MP Ihor Moseychuk admits on camera that he took bribes on a particularly large scale. However, just an hour later, his official statement appeared on the MP's online page, claiming that he was forced to give such testimony under torture.

Сьогодні ГПУ оприлюднило відео, на якому я нібито добровільно зізнаюсь в отриманні неправомірної вигоди. Я заявляю, що дане відео є наслідком жорстоких катувань. (Today, the PGO published a video in which I allegedly voluntarily confess to receiving improper benefit. I state that this video is the result of cruel torture.)

7 жовтня в СІЗО СБУ я, маючи внутрішню кровотечу, втрачаючи свідомість, був позбавлений будь-якої медичної допомоги. Умисно довівши мене до такого важкого стану, слідчі ГПУ запропонували мені, щоб в обмін на надання допомоги я дав свідчення по суті своєї справи, зокрема - зізнався в тому, чого не скоював. Також вони вимагали від мене дати свідчення проти лідера Радикальної партії Олега Ляшка, народного депутата від РПЛ Андрія Лозового та нині арештованого лідера партії Укроп - Генадія Корбана. (On October 7, at the SBU detention centre, suffering from internal bleeding and losing consciousness, I was denied any medical assistance. Having deliberately brought me to such a severe state, PGO investigators offered me that in exchange for providing assistance, I give testimony on the merits of my case, specifically -  confess to things I did not do. They also demanded that I give testimony against the leader of the Radical Party, Oleh Lyashko, Radical Party MP Andriy Lozovyi, and the currently detained leader of the Ucrop party - Hennadiy Korbach.)

Я погодився обмовити себе, хоча наголошую: жодного документу з цього приводу я не підписав. Ці покази стали для мене на той момент єдиною можливістю вижити. Але обмовляти друзів я не міг навіть під загрозою смерті. ГПУ не отримало від мене жодного слова проти Ляшка, Лозового, Кобрана чи будь-кого іншого. (I agreed to incriminate myself, although I emphasise: I did not sign any document regarding this. These testimonies were, at that moment, my only chance to survive. But I could not incriminate my friends even under threat of death. The PGO did not get a single word from me against Lyashko, Lozovyi, Korbach, or anyone else.)

8 жовтня вся Україна бачила, у якому важкому стані я був доставлений на судове засідання по моїй справі: блідий, ледь тримався на ногах, із численними забоями - слідами падінь від кількаразової втрати свідомості. Того ж дня мої колеги і друзі, боючись за моє життя та здоров'я, домоглись моєї нагальної госпіталізації до реанімаційного відділення лікарні швидкої медичної допомоги. Мені діагностували наскрізну язву 12-палої кишки із внутрішньою кровотечею, лікування від яких я досі проходжу. (On October 8, all of Ukraine saw the severe condition in which I was brought to the court hearing on my case: pale, barely standing on my feet, with numerous bruises - traces of falls from multiple loss of consciousness. On that same day, my colleagues and friends, fearing for my life and health, secured my urgent hospitalisation in the intensive care unit of the emergency medical care hospital. I was diagnosed with a perforated duodenal ulcer with internal bleeding, treatment for which I am still undergoing.)

Незважаючи на це, ГПУ в особі заступника генерального прокурора Столярчука і після моєї госпіталізації наполегливо пропонувало мені зміну запобіжного заходу на такий, що не пов'язаний з утриманням під вартою, в обмін на дачу показів проти інших народних депутатів. Цього не було і не буде. (Despite this, the PGO, represented by Deputy Prosecutor General Stolyarchuk, even after my hospitalisation, persistently offered me a change of preventive measure to one not involving detention, in exchange for giving testimony against other MPs. This did not happen and will not happen.)

ГПУ добре зробили, що оприлюднили це відео моїх показів під катуваннями. Про це має знати Україна. Про це має знати весь світ. Всі знатимуть, що в Україні проводять політичні репресії, катують і залякують людей та вимагають обмовляти інших. Настали темні часи репресивного мороку. (The PGO did well to publish this video of my testimony under torture. Ukraine must know about this. The whole world must know about this. Everyone will know that political repression is being carried out in Ukraine, that people are being tortured and intimidated, and that they are being forced to incriminate others. Dark times of repressive gloom have arrived.)

Подивіться на те, що зробили зі мною - і знайте, те саме буде з кожним, хто поодинці повстане проти режиму цинічних бариг.
