Lviv customs officer Yuriy Tovt failed to declare luxury assets in his declaration

Undeclared assets

Yuriy Tovt, head of the technical means of customs control department at the Lviv Customs, did not include a 2018 Audi Q7 and expensive Hublot watches in his declaration. The vehicle is registered to a company owned by his mother.

According to the "Середич.info" (Seredych.info) Telegram channel, the Audi Q7 SUV with the state registration number ВС0008ЕК was purchased back in May 2022. However, the customs officer's official documents list only an old 1997 Mercedes C180. The investigation revealed that the Audi Q7 is registered to the farm enterprise "Эко продукт плюс" (Eko Produkt Plus) (Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs code 41963126), owned by Tetyana Hryhorivna Tovt, presumably the official's mother.

Family financial support

The Tovt family appears to actively support one another financially. Last year, his sister Viktoria Tovt, who also works at the Lviv Customs, received a gift of 600,000 hryvnia from their mother. This amount was officially declared.

Hublot watches and a questionable past

In addition to the luxury car, Yuriy Tovt's declaration lacks any mention of luxury Hublot watches. Despite the Audi Q7 being purchased in 2022, it was not listed in either the 2022 or 2023 reports.

The official still has a chance to rectify the situation by declaring the missing assets in his 2024 declaration. However, it remains to be seen whether he will do so.

Corrupt past

Yuriy Tovt's name has previously featured in corruption scandals. In 2021, he became the focus of attention after returning to the Lviv Customs despite a prior criminal record. As far back as 2015, the Yavoriv District Court found him guilty of receiving a bribe of 200 US dollars (Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was then fined 25,500 hryvnia and banned from holding state positions for one year.

After leaving the customs service, Tovt worked as an assistant to a People's Deputy in the Verkhovna Rada, then secured a position at the Zakarpattia Customs. For a period, he worked at the "Tisa" customs post in Chop.
