Smugglers staged fire show at Odesa's Olympex terminal

Yesterday in Odesa, smugglers suspected of using the "Olympex" terminal for the illegal transshipment of "black grain" attempted to stage a demonstration. The aim was to create the appearance of "popular outrage" and obstruct the investigative actions being carried out on the terminal's premises.

As part of their action, participants burned several tyres, allegedly in protest against the blocking of trucks within the port area. However, the action appeared so weak that it was not even accompanied by the loud slogans or on-camera speeches typical of such shows.

• The former owners, Vladimir Naumenko and Serhiy Hroza, were accused of defrauding American investors.
• The investors filed lawsuits against them both in Ukraine and at the High Court of London, seeking justice.

Despite the court proceedings, Naumenko and Hroza are attempting to retain control over the terminal. Meanwhile, the terminal is featured in investigations related to smuggling channels.
