Cyborg Alexander Olefir

"Kyborg" Alexander Olefir (callsign "Beard"), a fighter in the 3rd company of the 93rd Brigade, entered Donetsk Airport as a volunteer on 30 December 2014. He was only 22 years old, and senior comrades did not always see him as an adult. But during the continuous fighting, Sasha proved to be a brave and composed soldier, always covering his comrades' backs, sharing a can of stew, and supporting others with his courage. On 17 January, the day the concrete structures of the terminal collapsed, he was still calling his wounded friend in the hospital, keeping up a brave front. Suddenly, the connection was lost...

 

For a long time, the death of Alexander Olefir was not confirmed. Various and contradictory rumours circulated - that he was in captivity, that he had been seen in Donetsk hospitals. But the examination confirmed that the body found under the concrete belonged to Alexander. Sasha was a free-spirited, kind person, a true patriot of his country. He had a girlfriend, also named Sasha. The fighter intended to propose to her, saying, "as soon as I get back from the airport - I'm getting married". It did not work out.

 

The hero's funeral will take place in the village of Ostrov in the Rakitne district of Kyiv region, on 7 April 2015 at 13:00. ©
