Deputy head of Ukraine's State Migration Service (SMS), Kakhaber Berikashvili, declared savings and assets that raise questions about the origin of these assets.
According to the declaration, Berikashvili and his family have accumulated over 8.2 million hryvnias in foreign currency, including 45,000 US dollars and 36,100 euros held by the official himself, as well as 37,000 euros and 72,600 US dollars held by his wife, Natalya Berikashvili, a member of the Kyiv City Council.
Residence and property: a mystery for auditors
Officially registered in Kyiv, Berikashvili actually resides in the village of Ivankovychi in Obukhiv district, Kyiv region, which is part of the Feodosiyivka territorial community. This is a prestigious suburban settlement with high real estate prices. The declaration lists several real estate objects, including land plots and residential houses, most of which were acquired before his tenure at the SMS.
Two plots in Ivankovychi — 800 and 1,700 sq. m. (acquired on 2 July 2012).
Two plots in Kalynivka (Fastiv district) — 1,500 and 133 sq. m. (acquired on 27 May 2010).
Residential house in Ivankovychi — 279 sq. m. (acquired on 8 July 2013).
Unfinished residential house in Ivankovychi, construction work on which began in 2015 or earlier.
The absence of data on the value of these objects at the time of their acquisition raises questions. Particularly interesting is the fact that at the time of purchase, Berikashvili did not yet hold high-ranking state positions. This casts doubt on the origin of the funds for such significant investments.
Family ties and hidden assets
Another interesting point is the Mazda CX-5 (2020) listed in Berikashvili's declaration. Although the official has the right to use and dispose of this vehicle, its official owner is Lidiya Ivanivna Oleksandrenko, Berikashvili's mother-in-law, who previously held the position of deputy head of the Vasylkiv United Tax Inspection in Kyiv region.
Thus, questions arise regarding possible hidden connections and interactions with other figures who may influence Berikashvili's career and his financial inflows.
Family income and living on "special funds"
In 2024, Kakhaber Berikashvili earned 1.67 million hryvnias from his work at the SMS, and also receives a pension of 118,000 hryvnias. His wife Natalya, serving as the director of the "Consultative and Diagnostic Centre" municipal non-profit enterprise in Kyiv, earns 1.42 million hryvnias.
However, as the declaration data shows, despite relatively modest official income, the family retains significant amounts of cash in foreign currency, which raises doubts about the legality of their sources.
