Interpol no longer seeks Yanukovych

The name of Ukraine's fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych remained in the Interpol database for just over six months.

Five days ago, on 16 July, the International Criminal Police Organisation temporarily suspended the search for the former president following a complaint from Yanukovych's lawyers, who claim that the wanted status is of an exclusively political nature.

There is currently no reliable information regarding the removal of other officials from the Yanukovych era from the wanted list. It is not excluded that the so-called "red notice" may also be suspended against others.
