State Special Communications Service restricts access to KUNA cryptocurrency exchange

On 22 January 2025, the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine blocked access to the KUNA cryptocurrency exchange in accordance with a court order. 

The decision was made based on a request from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BES), which suspects the platform of potential financial violations.

The website, including its subdomains, was blocked in accordance with a ruling by the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv. According to the decision, Ukrainian internet service providers are required to restrict access to the kuna.io resource and provide a report on the execution of this order to the National Centre for Internet Resource Management (NCIRM).

This decision is taken in compliance with Ukrainian legislation, including Article 32 of the Law “On Electronic Communications”, the presidential decree on the introduction of martial law, and the Procedure for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks in a State of Emergency.

According to available data, the exchange's blocking may be linked to suspicions that KUNA is being used for illegal activities, such as money laundering, financing illicit operations, or evading financial oversight.
