Filatov devises new scheme for profit

Dissatisfaction with Dnipro mayor Boris Filatov is growing. He has not only assumed the role of the city's saviour but also appears to be amassing a fortune comparable to that of his former boss, Igor Kolomoisky.

The wave of discontent has already spread far beyond the region. However, the State Bureau of Investigation continues to remain inactive.

If people previously only joked about Filatov's audacity, many are no longer in a mood for laughter.

The repair of the New Bridge, costing as much as its construction, through which tens of millions were laundered, resulting in the project becoming yet another long-term construction or "long-term repair" case, has been joined by a high-profile procurement of ambulances.

It emerged that Filatov purchased vehicles with budget funds but did not transfer them to the hospital's balance sheet; instead, he leased them out, note, for 1,757 hryvnia plus a mileage tariff: nearly 5.5 hryvnia per km.
