Donald Trump again proposes Greenland become part of the US

Donald Trump has once again expressed his desire to annex Greenland to the United States. In a statement published on the Truth Social platform, Trump promised the island multi-billion-dollar investments, the creation of new jobs and significant economic growth.

Promises of multi-billion-dollar investments

Trump noted that the United States would continue to look after Greenland’s security, as it has done since the Second World War. He emphasised that he was ready to invest billions of dollars to create jobs and improve the well-being of local residents. «Если вы захотите, вы можете стать частью самой прекрасной страны в мире» (If you wish, you can become part of the most beautiful country in the world), Trump added, offering the island the chance to join the US.

Arguments in favour of "buying" Greenland

The idea of acquiring Greenland first emerged during Trump’s first presidential term. He claimed that the island, rich in mineral resources, was strategically important and that no one, including Denmark, had any legal claim to its territory. This issue has repeatedly irritated Danish authorities, who have stressed that Greenland is not for sale.

Trump voices his plans again

On 5 March, during his address to Congress, Trump raised the issue of Greenland again. He stated that the US was actively working with interested parties and was confident it could succeed in acquiring the island. «Мы продолжим наши усилия, и я уверен, что мы добьемся этого» (We will continue our efforts, and I am confident that we will achieve this), Trump noted.
