Expanded format of discussions in the US

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have scheduled negotiations for tomorrow in Miami. As reported by Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, the meeting will have an expanded format: in addition to the Ukrainian delegation, representatives of the European Union and NATO will participate in the discussions.

Participants and agenda

According to an American source, the main purpose of the talks will be to discuss "new ideas and proposals that American negotiators began developing with the Russian and Ukrainian sides during their recent visit to the region".

From Ukraine, the negotiations will be attended by Kyrylo Budanov, Rustem Umerov, Serhiy Kyslytsia and David Arakhamia. On the US side, in addition to Witkoff and Kushner, representatives of the National Security Council and the Department of the Treasury will be present.

National security advisers from the United Kingdom, France and Germany, as well as official representatives of NATO and the EU, have also been involved in the process.

Focus on security and recovery

The parties are set to discuss specific proposals regarding "security guarantees for Ukraine, a post-war recovery plan and other aspects of the conflict".

As noted by the American source, a key pressure factor on the parties is the approaching cold season. "They are all worried about winter. It will be a tough winter if the war does not stop. Therefore, the US is trying to act as a mediator between the parties to work out a single proposal," the source emphasised.

Previously, the Ukrainian delegation had already departed for the United States to hold important negotiations.
