New contender for leadership post in anti-corruption bloc

According to sources monitoring the work of anti-corruption institutions, Vitaliy Kovalskyi has put forward his candidacy for the position of deputy head of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. This position is to be filled under the quota allocated for representatives of the prosecutor's office.

Currently, Vitaliy Kovalskyi holds the position of head of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Biography and history of conflict with the law

Analysing the candidate's profile, it is worth noting that he belongs to the personnel apparatus formed during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych. The official was previously subject to lustration, but a court instance later compelled the restoration of his rights.

In 2019, the Kyiv City Administrative Court cancelled the order dismissing Kovalskyi. The judge cited that an individual review of the official's activities had not been conducted during the decision-making process, which is a violation of legislative requirements.
