Students rally at Poplavsky Institute of KUK and KNKIM

A student protest took place at the Poplavsky Institute of KUK and KNKIM. Acting faculty students protested against the dismissal of the department head and lecturer, Alexander Balaban, whom the administration forced to submit a resignation letter.

The trigger was a Facebook post by a former student who graduated from the university about seven years ago. It was only now that she apparently decided to share her "emotional trauma" and, at the same time, invite students to her acting school.

The university administration decided not to investigate the matter and asked Balaban to resign voluntarily. In a conversation with students yesterday, the administration stated that they did not want any problems.

As a result, first- and fourth-year students went out for a peaceful demonstration today. However, the university security attempted several times to turn the peaceful protest into a brawl. Students were pushed off the stairs, insulted with profanity, and shouted at. And this is the country's best cultural university.

The rally lasted about three hours. Students received a promise from the administration to look into the situation.
