Identification of the youngest riot participant

Italian law enforcement agencies have identified the youngest participant in the riots that took place in Milan. It emerged that the individual is an 11-year-old boy. He was recognised thanks to surveillance camera footage, according to the Corriere della Sera.

Actions captured on video

According to the published information, the child was first captured on video with items stolen from a shop. Subsequently, the footage also documented him setting fire to a waste bin.

Response from services and legal aspects

Despite the country having strengthened measures regarding the liability of minors, the boy cannot be held criminally liable due to his age. However, social services and the juvenile prosecutor’s office are already addressing the situation.
