Russia has deprived itself of the right to participate in Eurovision 2018

It was revealed yesterday that Russia has definitively withdrawn from participation in the Eurovision 2017 song contest. Moreover, no Russian television channel will broadcast the contest.

According to Channel One management, Yulia Samoylova will represent the country at the contest next year.

However, the channel's management is somehow omitting the fact that refusing to broadcast the contest under Eurovision rules deprives the country of the opportunity to participate in the contest the following year.

In other words, Channel One has effectively deceived Yulia Samoylova again by promising her participation in Eurovision 2018. If the contest organisers do not make an exception, Russia will not be able to participate in the project in 2018 in accordance with its rules.
