Russian forces press Ukrainian defence south of Orihivka, preparing route to Sloviansk

Searching for vulnerabilities in the defence

Russian invaders have intensified attempts to dislodge the Defence Forces of Ukraine from strongpoints located south of the village of Orihivka. These actions are taking place on the Sloviansk axis of the front.

According to a Ukrainian soldier with the callsign "Muchnoy", the enemy is trying to gradually weaken the Ukrainian defensive chain in this sector. The main objective of the adversary is to create favourable conditions for further troop advances towards the city of Sloviansk.

Pressure tactics instead of a storm

The military emphasised that the current phase of combat operations has the character of reconnaissance by fire.

«Поки це радше етап тиску та пошуку слабких місць в обороні, а не сформований штурм» (For now, this is rather a stage of pressure and searching for weak points in the defence, rather than a formed assault), "Muchnoy" explained.

Thus, the aggressor intends to find vulnerable sections of the Ukrainian defensive perimeter in order to implement a planned advance to Sloviansk in the future.
