Ihor Kondratiuk's new film at risk of collapse due to actor who stayed abroad

Lead role proved problematic

Ukrainian director and producer Ihor Kondratiuk has faced a serious problem during the filming of his new movie "At the Zenith". The film, funded by state resources, has been put on hold due to actor Dmytro Yaroshenko, who played one of the key roles in it.

Actor not returning, project frozen

Yaroshenko, known for his role as the dissident poet Vasyl Stus, was abroad at the time the full-scale invasion began and has not returned since. His involvement in the project proved critical — a significant portion of the film has already been shot with his participation, but the final scenes cannot be completed. Reshooting with a new actor would entail enormous additional costs, putting the completion of the film at risk.

Yaroshenko himself, according to media reports, categorically refuses to return, leaving the fate of the film uncertain.
