Assumption about a secret financier

Journalist Yuriy Nikolov put forward a theory regarding the actual sources of funding for the project to build cogeneration units in Kyiv. According to him, businessman Viktor Kurytev, despite his known propensity for risky ideas, was unlikely to have independently financed a project worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

«Цілком логічно припустити, що у нього міг бути таємний інвестор. І ним міг бути той самий Штілерман з “Файєр пойнту”» (It is entirely logical to assume that he may have had a secret investor. And that could have been the same Shtilerman from "FirePoint"), the journalist wrote.

Nikolov points out that Denis Shtilerman, head of the company FirePoint, possesses the necessary financial resources and has strong connections with the Office of the President. As an example of his acquaintance with Kurytev, the journalist cites a joint photo of the two businessmen, where they are awarding scholarships to talented schoolchildren.

Why the project stalled

According to Nikolov's assessment, Shtilerman may have lost interest in investing in cogeneration due to direct threats to his business. Russian attacks on FirePoint's factories and offices in Kyiv and adjacent areas could have caused the company significant financial losses.

This may have made investments in cogeneration units less attractive due to the high risk of their destruction by enemy drones.

«От і все і завмерло» (And that is all, and it stalled), the journalist summarised, explaining the halt of the project in the capital.
