Russian night attack on Ukrainian railway: infrastructure damaged in five regions

Russian troops carried out a massive attack on Ukrainian railway infrastructure facilities overnight. Territories in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions came under fire.

Scale of damage and Ukrzaliznytsia's response

Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of the Joint-Stock Company "Ukrzaliznytsia", spoke about the threats and consequences of the strikes. He emphasised the systematic nature of such attacks and their targeting of key logistics hubs.

«Чергова ніч щільних ударів по залізничних обʼєктах. Ворог намагається зруйнувати все, до чого може дотягнутися: депо локомотивні та вагонні, ремонтні підприємства, вокзали й станції, не кажучи вже про рухомий склад» (Another night of dense strikes on railway facilities. The enemy is trying to destroy everything it can reach: locomotive and wagon depots, repair enterprises, terminals and stations, not to mention rolling stock), Pertsovskyi stated.

Restoration of traffic and passenger safety

According to the company's head, the night attack damaged energy infrastructure. However, railway workers promptly began restoring the operation of systems. Specialists organised alternative routes to ensure train movement. In addition, due to the threat of ballistic impact, traffic was temporarily suspended at the capital's railway hub.

Ukrzaliznytsia emphasises that despite the scale of the strikes, there are no casualties or deaths among passengers and staff. People were warned of the danger in advance and evacuation was organised. At the same time, the company suffered significant material damage.
