The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced the introduction of an updated version of the ration pack for military personnel stationed at the front line. This initiative has been implemented taking into account data from a large-scale survey conducted via the “Army+” app. Over 60,000 military personnel participated in the study.
A distinguishing feature of the updated ration pack is its structure: instead of a single daily set, two separate rations are provided. The composition includes ready-made meals in retort packaging, as well as additional products: dried fruits, chocolate, and nuts. An important innovation is the inclusion of water purification tablets and flameless heaters.
The latter allow military personnel to heat food without using an open flame.
The caloric value of the new daily ration will be 4,100 kcal. This is 600 kcal more than in the standard ration pack.
The ministry emphasises that the updated set will not replace the standard ration pack. It will serve as an alternative nutrition option for military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service who are directly involved in combat operations on the line of contact and in the enemy rear.
