Statements on inevitable defeat

Alice Weidel, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, expressed the conviction that Berlin needs to stop providing aid to Kyiv. In her view, it is obvious to everyone that Ukraine has already suffered a defeat. Therefore, the politician emphasises, Germany should focus its attention on resolving its own domestic problems.

Demands on Ukrainian leadership

In a conversation with journalists, the AfD representative explained her position on the actions of the German government. She called on Germany to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop the killings.

«Україна надто мала і вже програла. Німеччина повинна чинити тиск на Зеленського, щоб він припинив вбивства. Політика повинна будуватися за принципом «Німеччина передусім», у тому числі за аналогією з дизельною угодою президента США Дональда Трампа з Росією» ("Ukraine is too small and has already lost. Germany should pressure Zelensky to stop the killings. Policy should be built on the principle of 'Germany first', including by analogy with the diesel deal between US President Donald Trump and Russia"), the German politician's words are quoted by The Economist.
