These comments were made in response to journalists' questions regarding discussions on the possibility of establishing an energy ceasefire between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. This initiative was announced by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
In response, Lavrov addressed the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
«Я не думаю, що перепочинок він (президент України Володимир Зеленський) заслужив. Не думаю, що ми вкотре будемо вестися на запевнення та обіцянки» (I do not think he (President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy) deserves a breather. I do not think we will be led by assurances and promises once again), the Russian diplomat emphasised.
In his statement, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that Zelenskyy, who, according to Lavrov, is "pumped up with European weapons", is waging a "terrorist war against the Russian people".
