Address to parliament: threat of losing support

During a speech at a session of the Verkhovna Rada, People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko expressed outrage at the current dynamics of Ukrainian-American relations. In his assessment, the actions of the authorities are leading to a worsening of the situation, despite the country's critical need for American military and intelligence assistance.

The deputy emphasised the need to stop the escalation, warning that a confrontation with Washington against the backdrop of the ongoing war with Russia could significantly complicate access to vital resources.

“Where are the brains at all?”

Commenting on the current rhetoric, Honcharenko called the situation idiocy. «Може, ми припинимо безумство, яке сьогодні відбувається, коли ми з кожним днем розкручуємо спіраль конфлікту зі США? Це ж ідіотизм. Ми, маючи війну з Росією, ще хочемо посваритися зі Сполученими Штатами. Ну де взагалі якісь мізки?» (Maybe we will stop the madness that is happening today, when we are winding up the spiral of conflict with the US every day? It is idiocy. Having a war with Russia, we also want to quarrel with the United States. Where are the brains at all?) — asked the deputy.

Dependence on American intelligence and weapons

In his speech, the politician detailed the technical and intelligence limitations faced by Ukraine. He noted that the capabilities for intercepting Russian ballistic missiles are limited, and without data from American intelligence, Kyiv does not have sufficient information about the timing and nature of missile launches by the Russian Federation.

Honcharenko also refuted the idea that other international partners could fully replace the US in the sphere of intelligence support, calling such claims groundless.

Conflict with the Republican Party and the issue of sanctions

The deputy drew attention to the fact that the conflict involves not only US President Donald Trump, but also the Republican Party, representatives of which retain their seats in Congress even after elections.

«Як ми будемо вибивати ракети, розвідку, гроші, санкції? Усе те, що нам потрібно, щоб вижити» (How will we shoot down missiles, get intelligence, money, sanctions? All that we need to survive), — the People's Deputy posed the rhetorical question.

Criticism of diplomatic strategy

A separate point in the speech was the criticism of the absence of a Ukrainian ambassador in Washington. Honcharenko emphasised the need for direct diplomatic negotiations, instead of trying to resolve issues through media and public statements.

«Хто має домовлятися про балістику? Хто має домовлятися про розвідку? Через заяви в медіа, через гучні виступи? Так це не працює. Ви добиваєте Україну, у нас прилітає по містах, горять наші електростанції, а ви робите вигляд, що винні всі, крім вас» (Who should negotiate about ballistics? Who should negotiate about intelligence? Through statements in the media, through loud speeches? It does not work that way. You are killing Ukraine, we are getting hit in our cities, our power plants are burning, and you are pretending that everyone is to blame except you), — he stated.
