Businessman and comedian Garik Korogodsky published a statement claiming that his concert in Lviv was cancelled due to an alleged ban by Mayor Andriy Sadovyi. According to the artist, the Lviv-based Dovzhenko Centre refused to host the event, unofficially citing an alleged ban by the city mayor, even though a contract had already been signed, a prepayment made, and tickets sold.
Korogodsky stated that the formal reason for the refusal was a technical error: one date in the venue's schedule was allegedly booked twice for different events. However, he said that during a conversation with him, representatives of the venue unofficially informed him that it was not advisable to rent the hall due to an existing ban from the city mayor.
The comedian added that on the day his performance was scheduled to take place, no events were being held at the Dovzhenko Centre.
This statement emerged against the backdrop of discussions regarding the cancellation of another comedian, Felix Redka's, performance at the same venue. Korogodsky commented on the situation, noting that Redka had also publicly spoken about the existence of a list of performers in Lviv whose shows, according to him, were banned by the city mayor.
