After 28 years of inspiration and transformation, Donatella Versace makes way for the next generation of designers

The renowned fashion house Versace has announced that Donatella Versace, one of the most prominent figures in the history of global fashion, is stepping down from her role as the brand's creative director. She held this position for nearly three decades, following the tragic death of her brother, Gianni Versace, in 1997. During this time, Donatella not only preserved but significantly expanded the family legacy, infusing it with her own style and unique vision.

A new chapter: Dario Vitale as creative director

From 2025, leadership of the brand will be taken over by Dario Vitale, who previously worked at Miu Miu, the well-known subsidiary of Prada. His appointment was confirmed after thorough consultations with the Versace team and consulting agents, and he is now tasked with elevating the fashion house to a new level.

Dario Vitale is known for his ability to combine innovative approaches with deep respect for tradition. This promises to bring a fresh breath to Versace, particularly in the rapidly changing world of fashion, where the connection between a brand and current social and cultural trends is becoming increasingly important alongside design.

Donatella Versace: legacy and future roles

Despite leaving her position as creative director, Donatella Versace remains an integral part of the fashion house. She will retain her role as a brand ambassador, continuing to contribute to its strategy and public image.
