Disney's Snow White: Scandals and criticism threaten box office failure

A week before the release of Disney's new Snow White adaptation, the project has found itself at the centre of major scandals. Lead actress Rachel Zegler criticised the original character design, citing its outdated stereotypes. In her interpretation, she decided to portray Snow White as strong and independent, which sparked a mixed reaction from the public.

Fan backlash and colleague dissatisfaction

Gal Gadot's performance as the Evil Queen also failed to convince audiences. The trailer triggered a wave of criticism for the actress's excessive restraint and lack of charisma. Further negativity arose after actors with achondroplasia were replaced by computer graphics, which the community considered an act of discrimination.

Premiere cancellation and gloomy forecasts

Due to mounting pressure, Disney decided to cancel the large-scale Hollywood premiere, opting instead for a closed screening for the production crew. Experts are already predicting a box office failure for the film, into which the studio invested a record $270 million.
