Zhirinovsky wants to lead 'Novorossiya'

Despite public statements by the Russian Federation leadership that the so-called “Novorossiya” does not exist and that Donbas exists and must remain part of Ukraine, Kremlin mouthpiece Vladimir Zhirinovsky already sees himself as at least the governor of the occupied regions, specifically within Russia.

“Если кто-то этого захочет, я с радостью возглавлю «Новороссию». Моя цель одна – чтобы это стали снова все губернии Российской империи” (“If anyone wants this, I would gladly lead ‘Novorossiya’. My goal is one – for these to once again become all the governorates of the Russian Empire”), Zhirinovsky stated.

It appears that many assumptions about the Kremlin abandoning the “Novorossiya” project were somewhat premature, as it is no secret that Zhirinovsky voices only what the top leader of Russia has permitted him to say. True, he does so in his own manner.
