Vladyslav Belbas's wife saves assets from confiscation through court

The wife of Vladyslav Belbas, co-owner of the company "Ukrainska Bronetehnika" accused of corruption, managed to preserve family assets by filing a lawsuit against her husband. 

The Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv granted her claims regarding the division of jointly acquired assets, thereby avoiding potential confiscation.

According to 368.media, the dispute between the spouses concerned expensive property acquired during their marriage. The court recognised Oksana Belbas's right to a car, parking spaces, and an apartment in the capital, ensuring her financial independence from the defendant in the criminal case.

Which assets were preserved?

During the proceedings, Vladyslav Belbas's wife secured the following assets for herself:

• A BMW X5 (2019 model), purchased a few months after her husband left public service.
• Two parking spaces in an elite residential complex on Stepana Rudnytskoho Street (formerly Akademika Vilamsa Street, Kyiv).
• A three-room apartment in the same complex, purchased in 2013 for 511,000 hryvnia.

Notably, Vladyslav Belbas previously declared this real estate in his statements but did not disclose its value, which is a violation of anti-corruption legislation.

How did the court divide the property?

The Holosiivskyi Court reached a compromise: Oksana Belbas obtained personal ownership of the apartment and the car, while Vladyslav Belbas received the two parking spaces.

Formally, the court's decision is not linked to the criminal proceedings against the co-owner of "Ukrainska Bronetehnika", however, experts believe that it allows securing part of the family's assets from potential sanctions or confiscation.

While Vladyslav Belbas's case is being heard by the High Anti-Corruption Court, his wife has managed to legally formalise her property, minimising the risk of its loss.
