Closest allies of Vilkul detained

It appears that the series of scandalous detentions of former "regionalists" is continuing.

Yesterday, law enforcement agencies detained the closest allies of former Dnipropetrovsk Oblast governors from the Yanukovych era, Oleksandr Vilkul and Dmytro Kolesnikov – Viktor Naumenko and Rostislav Botvinov.

Both were detained by the prosecution in connection with the so-called "26 January case". It was on 26 January 2014 that "titushki" (thugs) attacked protesters near the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast administration.

Despite such high-profile detentions, many former "regionalists" have not left Ukraine; moreover, a number of officials close to Vilkul, Kolesnikov, and others continue to work in their positions in Kyiv and the regions.
