Detained GRU officers fear for their lives

Russian GRU officers Alexander Alexandrov and Evgeny Erofeyev, detained in May this year near the city of Skadovsk, would like to return home, but they seriously fear for their lives in their homeland. Both believe they will be pursued and that there is a real threat to their lives. This was stated by SBU head's advisor Yuri Tandit on the "5 Channel".

Both detainees understand that Ukrainian doctors literally saved their lives and are very grateful to our medical professionals.

The GRU officers face trial in September and are unlikely to be able to return to their homeland in the coming years, so they should not fear being pursued.

Recall that the Russian Ministry of Defence disavowed the detainees almost immediately, stating that they had resigned from the country's armed forces long before their trip to Ukraine.
