Suspect in SBU officer's murder detained

This morning, Denis Gordeyev, the suspect in the murder of SBU officer in Volnovakha, was detained while attempting to cross the Ukrainian border. This was announced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page.

 

«Сьогодні зранку, під час спроби нелегального перетину державного кордону, підрозділом СБУ було затримано вбивцю співробітника СБУ - Віктора Мандзика. (This morning, during an attempt to illegally cross the state border, an SBU unit detained the killer of SBU officer Viktor Mandzyk.)

Як я і обіцяв родині загиблого, для мене та для СБУ це є справою честі. Операція продовжується, всі, хто був причетний до вбивства нашого офіцера - будуть знайдені та покарані!», - написал Петр Порошенко. (As I promised the family of the deceased, this is a matter of honour for me and for the SBU. The operation continues; everyone involved in the murder of our officer will be found and punished!), wrote Petro Poroshenko.

 

It is worth noting that the SBU officer was shot in the head while attempting to detain a convoy carrying contraband goods.
