Vladimir Groysman comments on MPs' salary increase

Today, Ukrainian media reported that the salaries of Ukraine's people's deputies had allegedly been raised by nearly three times. Initially, some MPs denied the news and the pay rise itself, but their statements were not convincing to many.

 

Now, the situation has been commented on by the head of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, Vladimir Groysman.

“Сьогодні в соціальних мережах поширилася чутка про те, що зарплатня депутатів виросла аж у три рази. Хочу офіційно заявити – ніякого підвищення не було і я, як Голова Верховної Ради, жодного рішення про підвищення зарплатні депутатам у тих умовах, в яких зараз живе країна, не підпишу. Хочеться звернути увагу тих, хто розповсюджує ці чутки – не вигадуйте те, чого немає” (Today, a rumour has spread on social media that deputies' salaries have increased threefold. I want to officially state that no increase has taken place, and I, as the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, will not sign any decision to raise deputies' salaries under the conditions in which the country is currently living. I would like to draw the attention of those spreading these rumours – do not invent things that do not exist), - Vladimir Groysman wrote on his Facebook page.

 

At the same time, the regulatory committee of the Verkhovna Rada confirmed that from 1 April, deputies will receive a salary of 17,500 hryvnia, instead of 6,500 hryvnia.
