Explosion in Turkey. Dozens killed

In the Turkish city of Suruç, a powerful explosion occurred today. The terrorist attack took place in the courtyard of the city's cultural centre, where several hundred social sector workers reside, after which the building caught fire.

At least 27 people were killed in the explosion, while several dozen others sustained injuries of varying severity.

Emergency services are operating at the scene, but the incident has already been classified as a terrorist act. A suicide bomber detonated himself in a crowd of people who were preparing to travel to neighbouring Syria.

The city of Suruç is located on the border with Syria. On the other side of the border lies the city of Kobani, where fierce clashes between the national guard and terrorists of the extremist organisation "Islamic State" have been ongoing for several months.
