Radical group leader becomes interim head of state

Following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad, a new interim president has been declared in Syria. He is Ahmad al-Sharaa, the leader of the armed group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which previously operated in Idlib and fought against government forces.

Dissolution of parliament and security structures
